Ohashiatsu Beginning I - Classes forming now with Frances Farmer.
Kaizen Healing Arts supports and endorses other professionals in the community. Kelly has done a year-long apprenticeship with Frances Farmer and has high regard for her work as a therapist and an instructor. No experience is needed to take the beginning level Ohashiatsu class.
The Beginning I classes are being offered:
Ohashiatsu is a unique method of healing touch, meditation and self-improvement which takes shiatsu/acupressure to a different level. An energizing dance, an Ohashiatsu session combines hands-on touch techniques, limb rotation, and stretches, in a seamless flow of movement. With a focus on experiential learning, Ohashiatsu courses were developed to improve the health and well-being of the giver and the receiver through lecture, exercises, meditation, and hands-on training.
Each course offers theory, exercises, meditation and hands-on training. The basic curriculum courses are 30 hours each. Courses may be taken independently or as part of a complete study. All instructors follow the same curriculum, making it possible for students to follow the program at many locations around the world.
The BEGINNING level introduces the concept of Chi, Yin and Yang, the 12 meridians and some major tsubos (acupoints). The course focuses on feeling the flow of Chi in the body and learning the natural movements central to Ohashiatsu for giving a full-body session. In the second part of the Beginning level, the study of the meridian system and its relationship to the Five Elements reveals how our appearance, habits, preferences, emotions and attitudes are all examples of our effort to be in harmony with our natural self.
$450 Pre-registration required. NCBTMB approved CE provider. No experience necessary. For more information visit Five Element Shiatsu.

Massage Workshop for Partners
Invigorate your relationship, comfort a friend in need, or just learn the basics of a new skill! Come with your partner, child, friend, parent, or any other loved one.
In this weekend workshop you will learn some essential basics of massage that will enable you to give a better backrub! You will emerge knowing a basic seated routine, as well as a 30-minute table routine for back, neck, and shoulders. We will highlight basic anatomy, tips for avoiding fatigue while giving a massage, and key contraindications. We will also touch on proper draping techniques, use of oils and creams and will recommend a few of our favorite massage books. You will have plenty of opportunities to see the techniques demonstrated and practice them on your partner.
Imagine being able to give a gift to someone you care for; whether it's a significant other, a parent, a child, or a friend in need. A gift that could open doorways to deeper understanding is literally right at your fingertips! It is the gift of partner massage; gentle, caring, healing touch that anyone can share and enjoy.
Everyone is born knowing touch as the primary channel of communication and connection with the world, yet people have forgotten how vital touch is to our sense of wellbeing. It takes only a little willingness, time, and awareness to bring the power of touch back into our relationships through shared massage. Although massage therapy as a profession requires licensure and extensive training, partner massage is something that anyone can learn to give and receive. Join us!

The workshop will be taught by Alyssa Northrop, MPH and Kelly Kempter, NCTMB. Space is limited to ensure a comfortable, intimate environment. $150 fee per couple includes a workbook and massage care package.
Here's what participants of our previous classes are saying about the workshop:
"Fantastic instruction and demonstration."
"This is a great starter routine."
"Nice level of detail; good class duration to allow for developing confidence - loved it."
