Kaizen Healing Arts is joining forces with Pilar's Tamales and other community members to raise funds to help alleviate suffering for Haiti's earthquake victims. We felt moved by the near unfathomable devastation of this event and feel compelled to take action to help our fellow bothers and sisters in Haiti.
To this end, we will be hosting a benefit dinner on Friday, February 12th, 2010 at the First Methodist Church in Ypsilanti, with live music, a silent auction, and members of our community coming together to support those in need. Proceeds from this event will go to Stand With Haiti/Partners in Health (PIH), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization which has been working on the ground with Haiti for over twenty years. In their own words, "Through service, training, advocacy, and research, and by establishing long-term relationships with sister organizations, PIH strives to achieve two overarching goals: to bring the benefits of modern medical science to those most in need of them and to serve as an antidote to despair." Pilar's Outreach for Haiti's lofty goal is to raise $10,000 for Stand with Haiti/PIH. We plan to make a simple and delicious meal for more than 200 people and are asking for donations, both for ingredients and for items for our silent auction.
