Pilar's Outreach for Haiti: Year 2

Kaizen Healing Arts is once again joining forces with Pilar's Cafe and other businesses and community members in order to help alleviate suffering for the people of Haiti. Last year we were moved by the unfathomable devastation of Haiti's earthquake and organized Pilar's Outreach for Haiti benefit in an effort to garner community support and thus raise much needed funds for the earthquake victims. This year, with over a million displaced people living in tents and a cholera epidemic, against a backdrop of malnutrition and inadequate health services, we are compelled once again to take action on behalf of our fellow brothers and sisters in Haiti.

To this end, we will be hosting the 2nd Annual Pilar's Outreach for Haiti benefit on Friday, March 25th, 2011 at the First United Methodist Church in Ypsilanti, with dinner, live dance music by Los Gatos, a silent auction, children's activities, and members of our community coming together to support those in need. Proceeds from this event will go to Partners in Health (PIH), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization which has been working in Haiti for over twenty years. In their own words, "We must continue to highlight the plight of the urban and rural poor throughout Haiti whose struggle against poverty and injustice pre-dated the earthquake and has been made immeasurably more difficult by the disaster."

Our goal is to raise $10,000 for Partners in Health. We plan to make a simple and delicious meal for more than 200 people and are asking for your help. We are asking local businesses and individuals to join us in making this event, and more importantly, this fundraising effort, a huge success. We are seeking sponsors to make cash donations to Partners in Health, to become matching-fund sponsors, to donate ingredients for our dinner, and to contribute items for our silent auction. Your donation is tax deductable. In appreciation of your generosity, your business will be included in a special section of our program. We are extremely grateful for your time, consideration and generosity.
