Fall Equinox

The autumnal equinox arrives precisely at 4:21 a.m. on Wednesday, September 23. People celebrate this moment across the world because that is exactly the time when the sun passes directly over the equator. In Latin, the word “equinox” means, “equal night”. This signifies the equal parts of daylight and darkness, although Saturday, September 26 is the day that day and night are actually equalized this year. As the days get shorter and we lose more and more daylight, we tend to lavish in these last days of warmth and take in the sunshine. We can also take the opportunity to look for balance in our lives, using the symbolic balance of the equinox to inspire us to seek a more balance within our bodies, minds, and lives.
