Being healthy is not about eating low fat snacks and drinking diet soda. It’s not even about training for marathons and practicing power yoga. Health is about balance. It’s about all of our systems, cellular, organs, emotions, mind, spirit, and relationships harmonizing with each other and with nature. In order to walk this line of health, we need to be in tune with our true selves, our true needs, be honest with ourselves, and honor the deepest needs of our beings. Maintaining this balance involves loving self discipline: eating close to nature, taking deep breaths, resting our bodies as well as our minds, integrating our inner and outer relations, acting in alignment with our beliefs, nurturing ourselves, being moderately active, and living in harmony with the seasons. As humans, we need to be touched and this too, is an important aspect of health.
